Ian and his wife Jill moved their family to the Lake Taupō region more than 20 years ago.  For Ian, moving here began a love affair that deepened over the years.

 

Fifteen years ago Ian began working as a skipper on the lake and over that time he discovered some of the most beautiful scenery, away from the crowds and only accessible by boat , with a growing desire to share it with others.

 

The idea of being able to create a business in partnership with his wife Jill, who looks after the administration side of the business, where Ian could share his passion for both boating and our beautiful Lake began to take shape and in 2020 Taxicat was officially launched.

 

With his unique storytelling and passion, you will find touring with Ian the most authentic and unique experience to be had. 

 

The Western Bays of Lake Taupō really is a special place.  From Waterfalls that tumble into the lake, towering cliffs plummeting down into water hundreds of feet deep to secluded sandy bays, along with some of the purest water you will find.  So clean you can literally drink what you are swimming in.
